Trader Joe's recently expanded its seafood selection with the debut of its new Wild Skipjack Tuna.
Trader Joe’s Wild Skipjack Tuna is a great choice for anyone looking for a more sustainable canned tuna alternative. The fish that Trader Joe's uses is sustainably caught in Thailand without the use of Fish Aggregating Devices, which aids in reducing by-catch.
Moreover, each fish used in the product is also individually tested for mercury and only those registering 0.15 parts per million of mercury or less end up being used—a policy that's much stricter than the FDA's mercury action limit. Finally, the fish is hand-cut and hand-packed raw before its slow-cooked in the pouch. This method helps to seal in the nutrients and all the great tuna flavors.
