Phil Yu, the man behind the blog Angry Asian Man, has organized an amazing 10-person Waterfalls cover. Yu himself impressively takes on Left Eye’s iconic rap sequence, but perhaps the most impressive thing about the TLC cover is the fact that each individual is playing an instrument that is not actually an instrument. The video’s producer, Jane Lui, specializes in playing music with DIY instruments such as the typewriters, kazoos and water jugs used in the video.
I’m not sure if any of these folks are actually singers, but the crew does include actress Lynn Chen, whose cinematic credits include ‘Saving Face,’ a romantic comedy about a Chinese-American lesbian couple. Overall, this feel-good video revamps an R&B classic in a fun, inventive way.
