Waste Waste 40x40 is easily one of the most meta upcycled furniture sets around. (Take a moment to let that thought sink in). This eco-friendly set of furniture was created by Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek. The designer created a set of furniture using waste material back in the 90s, but he noticed that this upcycled furniture still left behind waste. Waste Waste 40x40 is made from the leftovers of waste material.

The leftover leftover wood is cut into squares that measure 40 millimeters by 40 millimeters and then glued onto tables and chairs. The result is a piece of furniture that looks pixelated and is guaranteed to be a one-of-a-kind due to the nature of the materials that cover it. Here's hoping more designers think of ways to upcycle their scraps' scraps instead of just tossing them aside.
