Fetch and Freight may sound like a pair of comical cartoon characters, but they're actually a pair of warehouse robots developed by Fetch Robotics. This robotic tag team takes over the mundane task of collecting and delivering stock in warehouses. The purpose of these robots is to ease the jobs of human warehouse workers.
The duo consists of a mobile base and a manipulator robot that can act in either static or mobile positions. The robots use the ROS open-source robot operating system and include anti-collision technology that ensures that humans that work around them don't get injured.
These warehouse robots won't just help to speed up warehouse operations, but they can actually enable human warehouse workers to better utilize and expand their skills and repertoire, rather than performing mind-numbing warehouse tasks all day.
