Mobile Consumer Rewards

VikingSpots Offer Free Internet in Exchange for Completing Local Deals

VikingSpots is a new program from Viking Mobile that offers free mobile Internet in exchange for participating in deals or promotions with local businesses. VikingSpots was created by Viking Mobile, a Belgian mobile phone carrier.

VikingSpots is currently only available in the Hasselt area of Belgium and only to a select few beta testers. The system works using Viking Points which are earned when a user completes a deal or offer. These points can then be redeemed for mobile Internet use. Rewarding consumers for interacting with local businesses is a win all around. Here’s hoping that American mobile phone carriers can adapt this idea. Mobile Internet usage costs American consumers a small fortune. It wouldn't be hard to convince consumers to eat out or try a new service if it saved them some money on their monthly phone bill.
