'Venice in Oil' is a mysterious amalgamation of frames that portray a massive cruise ship, surrounded by Venetian gondola boats. The piece seems to be a politically charged response that was constructed by renowned rebel artist Banksy and it is tied to the highly regarded Venice Biennale — "the largest and most prestigious art event in the world [that], for some reason, [has] never invited [Banksy]."

Much like most of the creative's daring work, the true meaning of 'Venice in Oil' is up for speculation from the public. A popular theory is that Banksy is commenting on the migrant crisis in the city.

'Venice in Oil' is present online through a clip where a man is setting up the installation and gets asked to move from local police, although many people have gathered to observe his actions.
