José Andrès' 'Faux Joe' Burger is a Reimagined Vegan Sloppy Joe

While many chefs, restaurant chains and brands are attempting to craft the perfect plant-based burger to meet increased demands, renowned José Andrès—who was recognized as the James Beard’s 2018 Humanitarian of the Year—added a vegan Sloppy Joe sandwich to the menu at Beefsteak.

The all-new plant-based sandwich features some of the most breakthrough plant-based products on the market, including Beyond Meat crumbles flavored with a roasted chile sauce and Kensington’s aquafaba-based Fabanaise, which has been made into a spicy chipotle mayonnaise-style sauce. Between the vegan brioche buns, the sandwich is also stacked with avocado and a thickly cut tomato slice.

In the past, chef José Andrès has proclaimed that the future is plant-based and asks "why are we eating meat still?"
