While hipsters, millennials and Aussie cafe enthusiasts are obsessing over avo toast, this New York restaurant is changing the game with vegan avocado pizza. Kola House recently introduced the new menu item for spring and it is one of three whole wheat pizza options available at the eatery.
The healthier alternative is limited in quantity -- only 12 of the precious pies are made every night. Kola House Executive Chef Joe Feshan fashions the totally vegan avocado pizza with freshly sliced avocados (of course), cilantro, radishes, sunflower seeds and serrano on top of a handmade whole wheat dough. Although pizza purists may be up in arms, the creaminess of the avocado -- which covers the entire surface -- mimics the more conventional creamy texture cheese usually provides while the other toppings provide additional texture contrast.
