To some, the Vault House will look like a big chunk of Swiss cheese with its abstract cutouts. Yet to others it will simply look like a contemporary work of art that someone is lucky enough to call home. An all-white structure with an arch motif present throughout, the Vault House rests on a set of stilts to solidify itself as a practical beach house as well.
Designed by Johnston Marklee, the Vault House is located in Oxnard, California. The architect shares, "The Vault House challenges the typology commonly found on narrow oceanfront lots. Instead of directing its focus on the single prime ocean view, an array of transparent interior spaces layered inside the main volume, offer a multiplicity of oblique views through the house while capturing natural light from a variety of angles."
