Portland's Salt & Straw teamed up with Boke Bowl to create an exceptionally unusual ice cream treat—lemongrass and lime ice cream, topped with a drizzle of fish sauce caramel and Korean chili flakes.
The South Asian-inspired ice cream treat features flavors that are commonly paired together in Asian lunch and dinner meals, but rarely desserts. The sweetness of the lemongrass and kaffir lime ice cream is countered by a salty-sweet taste from the fish sauce caramel and to round it all out, the chili flakes give the dessert a nice kick.
Having since expanded to Los Angeles, this experimental ice cream shop demonstrates how the food community is coming together to be artful and creative.
