Crossover Social Media Features

The Twitter Hashtags are Officially Coming to Facebook

It's finally come true: Twitter hashtags are going to become an active feature on Facebook. Now Facebook users can use clickable Twitter-style hashtags in Facebook comments and posts as hyperlinks to similar broader topics.

While many Facebook users have been using Twitter hashtags ironically all over Facebook for awhile now, Facebook will be adding an actual hashtag feature into the comment options of posts, pictures and searches so that the hashtags can become real hyperlinked URLs. The hashtags will show up in a blue font and users will be able to click on the tags and be transferred to a broader network of posts and pictures featuring the same tags. While there isn't an advertising marketability linked to the Facebook hashtags just yet, I'm sure it will soon follow.
