Limestone-Covered Showrooms

Toyo Ito Designs the Kinnasand Textile Store in Milan

Toyo Ito has put together the flagship store for Kinnasand in Milan, a textile company that sells high-quality fabrics. In order to give the items the attention they deserve, Ito decided to drape the items across the walls, hanging them almost as if they were works of art.

However, Toyo Ito did not stop with the walls when it came to the details, but also covered the floor completely in limestone. This way, when someone walks into the store they immediately notice a sense of elegance about the place, which adds to the high-quality value of the textiles being sold. For the lighting, Ito employed two methods: one that lit up the walls behind the products, and another that focused directly on them. That way they are lit from both the back and the front.
