These abstracted erotic paintings are the work of Japanese artist Tomoo Gokita, and are inspired by paintings created by his father for advertisements in Playboy magazine for its launch in Japan back in 1975. Gokita has the entire collection of his father's images in his studio, and the influence is clear in these works.
The images are peculiar in that they are revealing without being erotic, and profound in that they depict a fantastical caricature of women's deeply complex sexuality rather than a simplified projection of physical features.
