The tok_u collection reimagines initial meetings by introducing thoughtfully designed objects that ease awkwardness and spark real connection. Created for the 2025 YUPD Exhibition by Dami Seo, Mingyu Seo, Songhee Kim, 허 정안, and soo a Kim, it uses playful motifs to guide conversation naturally.
For example, the tok_u cup is a “couple item” that forms a heart when two people join their cups, transforming a simple gesture into a symbolic act of unity. The tok_u Fortune Printer mimics a fortune cookie experience, dispensing playful conversation prompts at just the right moment. There’s also tok_u Lighting, which blooms in brightness as dialogue deepens, and the tok_u Chair—a seesaw-inspired seat that only balances when shared, reinforcing that harmony comes through mutual support. Each piece invites interaction, turning “hello” into something more heartfelt and memorable.
