This beautiful example of time-lapse videography was shot by Cy Kuckenbaker outside San Diego International Airport this past Black Friday.
As one of the busiest commercial days of the year in the US, there was quite a bit of activity in the sky. From 10:30 am to 3 pm, the time-lapse camera filmed the sky as planes flew overhead on their way to the landing strip. Although Black Friday is a busy day for flying, it's nowhere near as busy as this time-lapse videography display makes it appear.
Cy Kuckenbaker taped the planes flying in one at a time, then made the sky transparent so he could layer the planes on another shot he got of just the sky. The result of this process, which is called "chroma key" is dozens of planes seemingly coming into San Diego International Airport all at the same time!
