Perforated Marble Screen Centers

Studio Saar Designed the Third Space Learning and Cultural Center

Studio Saar created the Third Space Learning and cultural center which is located in Udaipur, India. It is designed for the non-profit organization Dharohar and defined by its perforated screen made from white marble filters light and air as a 'third space' between home and school. It is for local children to participate in a slew of activities and workshops.

The studio speaks about the design process to Dezeen, stating "The internal courtyard serves as a flexible exhibition, performance and meeting space which has all the centre’s circulation around it providing clear routes to all the learning and activity spaces. We worked to accommodate the different functions in different ways and weave them together with a variety of spaces that allow people to find their space."
