The Oddly Satisfying Clock was designed and built by a Reddit user named Ragusa12. Inspired by a digital clock's mechanisms and design style, the steampunk-themed clock displays the time with lined-up numbers. Ragusa12's design uses 3D-printed materials and is powered by stepper motors running on an Arduino processor.
While the Oddly Satisfying Clock is entirely functional, its shifting gears are noisy. The designer explains that the clock is still a work in progress. Using vertical columns with carved-out numbers that travel up and down, the clock portrays the hour and minute. It moves through a pinion gear system, which allows the columns to move to the appropriate number. Moreover, the clock's steampunk design is emphasized by its black color.
