Virus-Related Social Media Chatbots

Facebook and the WHO Created a Chatbot for the Messenger App

Facebook is once again collaborating with the World Health Organization to provide people with information related to COVID-19, and the latest project will educate people through the messenger app. The two organizations created a new chatbot for the messenger app, which users can interact with to receive official information, including statistics, press releases and more. Additionally, the chatbot will educate users about common misinformation related to the virus.

Overall the new chatbot will be able to inform people who are seeking out up to date information. Additionally, the platform is taking a proactive approach to stop the spread of misinformation, which can happen quickly during highly complex global events. Previously the two organizations created a similar chatbot for the WhatsApp platform.
