It was recently announced that McDonald's stores in France will soon be selling the McBaguette, the fast food chain's version of the traditional French bread. The chain plans to sell fresh baguettes that are baked on a daily basis. The McBaguette will be served with three individual jars of jam, including orange, raspberry and strawberry.
The purpose behind the McBaguette is to have the fast food brand tailor its menu to a local culture. While I am admittedly rather hesitant around some McDonald's dishes, the McBaguette looks quite appealing from the photographs.
Implications - Businesses that devote their efforts to meeting the specific needs of one group of consumers will see favorable results in today's industry. Consumers will flock to those products that complement their personal preferences and tastes.
