Artists always find ways to surprise the public by creating art projects using things made for very practical, mundane tasks, and the Matchboox above are the latest example of this practice.
The Matchboox is a project by Richard Meier and Sophie Meier made from art squeezed into matchboxes. These miniature accordionlike pieces of art are created by 64 designers, photographers, graphic designers and stylists. Working with the small matchbox space was an interesting challenge for them, and the result is beautiful and surprising.
The accordion shape of The Matchboox is a unique feature of this project that allows them to squeeze more art in this small space, causing it to act like a small illustration book. This project by Richard Meier and Sophie Meier is really a unique way of presenting art.
