Tariq Khayyat Design Partners Designs the Fold in Dubai

Tariq Khayyat Design Partners designs the Fold, which is a unique set of townhouses that are found along the Al Wasl Road in Dubai. It is made up of 28 townhomes and embodies a structural form defined by its curved facades to create a communal oasis behind the road.
The team wanted to create a tulip field along the road so that when driving by, the base each has a single-stem tulip. Khayyat explains, "We stepped the buildings so there's a bit of privacy as well, there's balconies. We had to work closely with the contractors on the interfaces because the white part of the facade is GRP. The brown at the back is glass fibre-reinforced concrete (GRC) and the louvres are powder-coated aluminium."
