To call attention to the launch of The New Yorker Television Issue, Brooklyn-based designer and animator Nicolo Bianchino created a dynamic trailer for the September 2017 issue of the magazine.
The editorial-style trailer teases some of the celebrities that will be featured as part of the Television Issue, including filmmaker Ken Burns and Orange is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan. Throughout the short trailer for The New York Times issue, details like Ben-Day Dots are included to create a bold, comic book-like style that references traditional printing techniques.
With increased competition from online magazines, a number of print magazines are now integrating multimedia elements that engage readers in new ways, such as with augmented reality and interactive cover designs.
