The CUPID Drone Prototype Made Its Debut at the SXSW 2014 Conference

The newest drone technology to come out of the SXSW 2014 conference in Austin, Texas is CUPID, a Tarot hexacopter equipped with an 80,000-volt stun gun.
Stronger than a police-issued taser, the CUPID drone was designed by mobile software firm Chaotic Moon, which is known for its recent Oculus Rift virtual reality game SharkPunch.
The Chaotic Unmanned Personal Intercept Drone or CUPID is still a prototype but its debut at the SXSW 2014 conference has already caused waves. The remote-controlled flying drone will most likely be used to fight crime by police officials.
“It can find a subject and send live video to the owner’s phone and ask if you want to authorise the subject or detain them. If you detain them, it drops into fully autonomous mode to detain them until police arrive, if need be stunning them with 80,000 volts of electricity to render them incapacitated,” says the Chaotic Moon team.
