You don't need to spend a ton of money to get yourself some visually stimulating artwork, and this paint swatch art project proves it. The maker of this colorful canvas simply collected pigment samples from home renovation booklets, cutting them into 2-inch squares and keeping them in a gorgeous order of hue gradation.
With white primed fabric on a rectangular wooden stretcher, Mallory used double-sided tape to carefully align the vibrant paper tiles over the entire surface. Clusters of particular colors in intense and watered-down versions are evident from right to left and from top to bottom, creating an image that's varied and visually intriguing, without being optically perplexing and aesthetically muddled. The result is a DIY composition that expresses a unique mix of tech-age pixelation with abstract expressionist flavor.
