If you are what you eat, you'll be pretty stylish thanks to Milan-based chef and artist Yujia Hu, who creates beautifully detailed sushi bites which resemble shoes and sneakers. Known on Instagram as @theonigiriart, Hu uses sashimi, rice and seaweed to recreate popular sneaker styles.
Drawing inspiration from Nike High Tops, Air Jordans, and Vans, these bite-sized designs play into other unique sushi hybrid creations, which have been rapidly growing in North America.
Hu's perfectly formed recreations encompass every detail of popular designs, down to the Nike swoosh. Each design takes about 20 minutes for Hu to make and is about the size of a handroll.
Hu's perfectly detailed "shoe-shi" are a delight to all senses as they both invite and confuse what we consider edible and indulgence.
