Luxirare's 'Sushi Ritual' post harps on the foreigners understanding of Japanese cuisine. Crispy spicy tuna rolls and and tempura wraps are for the most part unheard of in authentic Tsukiji markets, and the post aims to shed light on the culture's traditional dishes.
Squid, shrimp, sea urchin, salmon egg and pickled veggies are used to create these intricate sushi pieces. Two classic serving methods are referenced. While most restaurants place fish on top of white grains, the entry advocates an alternative layout wherein white rice is piled up within the bottom of a wood bowl.
This arrangement, termed 'Jirashi,' is filled with boiled egg, fluke and caviar. This however is only the beginning of these Luxirare dishes as egg custards slices of Nori are pieced together.
