Red Aluminum Walkway Periscopes

Glavovic Studio Designs the Sunset Hammock in Florida

American design firm Glavovic Studio created the Sunset Hammock which is a bright red aluminum walkway that has a large periscope. This is located in Tamarac, Florida right on the edge of a suburban development. The purpose of the structure was to create a closer connection between humans and the environment with a part of the Everglades. It is comprised of a long walkway painted in red with the aforementioned periscope at the end.

The studio explains the design's process and influence, stating "[Sunset Hammock] raises awareness about the critical role of the Everglades within the ecological balance of South Florida. The art project renders saturated moments in time as the day reveals itself, increasing its intensity in color, view, and connectivity to the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States."
