Brutalist Concrete Tower Apartments

Studio Noju Renovates the Torres Blancas Tower in Madrid

Local design studio Studio Noju renovates a Madrid apartment that is located inside the Torres Blancas building that was originally designed in 1961 by Francisco Javier Sáenz de Oíz. It features an exposed concrete tower that is defined by cylindrical shapes to create a bulbous balcony along the facade with curved rooms inside.

Mora who had set up Studio Noju alongside Eduardo Tazón back in 2020 speaks about the project, noting that "The outdoor spaces have been once again consolidated into a continuous terrace that follows the outline of the original plan. There is a constant dialogue between many of the solutions we have proposed in the interior design of the apartment with those proposed more than 50 years ago by Sáenz de Oiza."
