East Delhi's Star City Mall Has an Alcohol Store for Women Exclusively

The Star City Mall in Delhi, India is now home to a liquor store for women. Alcohol stores are typically not places that women who drink frequent, particularly because they tend to be groped, harassed or simply stared down when they go to make a purchase.

The women-only alcohol store will now help to decrease the gender divide by providing a safe space for women to carry out their business unsolicited. At this small shop, women are able to browse for wine, beer, champagne and more without being bothered. The space even includes a comfortable couch and a few magazines that female customers can flip through at their leisure.

Men are not permitted in this sectioned off part of the store, however, there is an adjoining area that is open to all members of the public. To ensure that women feel safe in this space, the liquor store is also protected by female bodyguards.
