OSPA Studio Tops a Basketball Court with a Soccer Field as a Roof

Sport facilities are becoming even more sophisticated by the looks of the new Campus Igara for the Health Sciences Federal University of Porto Alegre (UFCSPA). Located in Porto Alegre, Brazil, this particular athletic area boasts a basketball court on the ground level and a soccer field as its roof. As far as sport facilities go, this is definitely a visually impressive one.

Designed by OSPA, the structure is fairly simple overall. Unlike other sport facilities, this one will be bookended by twin highrises. They will be home to both classrooms and offices. OSPA writes, "More than a public institution, a public space. This is the premise and guiding goal for the development of the new campus of UFCSPA.[...] The open space articulates the campus' functions far beyond the academic activities. The independent access also encourages diversity of users."
