While KFC has already been serving up Nashville Hot Chicken since January, now Jack in the Box is testing its own version of the southern-style chicken sandwich. Although still in the testing phase, the new sandwich demonstrates the growing popularity of the spicy chicken dish.
According to recent reports, Jack in the Box's take on the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich features an all-white meat chicken patty topped with Nashville Hot Sauce, hickory smoked bacon, pickles and a slice of American cheese. The sandwich is also served on tangy sourdough bread to complement the spicy sauce.
While it is unclear if Jack in the Box will roll the southern-style sandwich out nation-wide, its take on the dish demonstrates the growing popularity of regional cuisine and the desire for more spicy options at fast food restaurants.
