Sizable Solar Panel Pavilions

V8 Architects & Marjan Van Aubel Studio Build an Installation

A new solar panel pavilion was installed as a gathering space at the 2022 Dutch Design Week. The structure, which features a whopping amount of 380 colorful solar panels, was built by local practice V8 Architects and design firm Marjan van Aubel Studio. The panels are colorful, including nuances of orange, blue, and red. At peak performance, the panels can produce about 7.5 kilowatts of energy.

The installation fulfills a crucial role at the festival as it gives people the chance to sit and rest, in addition to being an aesthetically striking structure. The solar panel pavilion is shaped "to resemble a giant beach chair." The installation also includes sets of stairs that lead to an opening in the curved roof and give visitors a new viewpoint of the work.
