The smoke photography of Filippo Minelli is utterly arresting. It treats the smoke as an entity in and of itself, which gives the images a surreal element. Titled Silence/Shapes, the smoke photo series interacts with a variety of different spaces including rural landscapes, historical locations and even the odd church. All of these work together to create a sense of fantasy that will fuel people's own imaginations.
What makes the smoke photo series even more special is the fact that he uses special chemicals to change the color of each cloud. These adds an additional visual element that really draws the eye in. Since the locations differ greatly, the smoke stands out all the more against the various backdrops.
