Huhtamaki develops a smart cup design that is heat-sensitive and interactive. The 'Adtone' is a single-use paper cup that boasts a thermochromic label, which is activated through contact with hot liquid.

The real innovation of this product, however, is its digital connectedness. As consumers are engulfed in a world that is strongly dependent on new innovations and one that is extremely competitive when it comes to marketing campaigns, Huhtamaki's smart cup design allows brands to reach their consumer with offers via an integrated QR code. By scanning the 'Adtone' with a phone, individuals can gain access to "promotional materials on a website and digital content." The approach of Huhtamaki's smart cup is extremely interactive and has the potential to reach a wide and diverse range of consumers.
