This smart bird house not only monitors air quality in real time, it also provides wifi Internet when pollution levels are kept to a minimum. The TreeWifi from Heroes and Friends is an environmental initiative that aims to get urban dwellers engaged and interacting with eco issues like air pollution.
When the quality of air improves, the inexpensive TreeWifi device gives free wifi access. The device is located within a bird house, turning the aviary home into a smart one. With a goal of placing a smart bird house on every street in Amsterdam, the team hopes the free Internet will provide an incentive to residents to get involved in ameliorating the air they breathe and reduce their own emissions.
