In acknowledgement of the opening weekend of Star Wars episode VII, Carrefour created a unique way for consumers and fans of the franchise to 'Shop with the Force.'
Rather than simply installing a touchscreen display at one of the biggest shopping malls in Romania, the Mega Mall Bucharest, Carrefour challenged people to channel their inner Jedi to add items to an on-screen shopping cart using only powerful gestures. These movements were detected with Kinect technology, making kids and adults of all ages feel extremely powerful when picking up household essentials and toys from the sci-fi franchise.
After finishing the gamified experience with the space-age screen, shoppers had the chance to actually purchase the products they selected from a cart that was waiting for them at a cash register.
