Kengo Kuma has had a part in yet another stunning design project, this time for the Shang Xia flagship store in Paris. The interior has been decorated with multiple ceramic tiles, giving the entire room a whitewashed look.
The space exudes a certain elegance, as the tiles give the room a uniform design, but the texture adds a sense of artisanal craftsmanship. In total, over 6,000 ceramic tiles were used to cover the surface, and even the ceiling has undergone this same treatment. In Asian culture, this material is very significant, which is another reason why Kengo Kuma decided to use it at Shang Xia. As such the firm does an amazing job with combining French aesthetics with Asian tastes.
