Powerade's Ad Tributes Shakur Stevenson's Rise to the Olympics

Shakur Stevenson is a 19-year-old American bantam-weight boxer who's faced a lot of adversity in his life. Born in Newark, New Jersey, the athlete faced a childhood filled with a disturbing level of violence that was a result of the poverty-stricken neighborhood that he claimed as home.

With this in mind, Powerade shows how Shakur Stevenson was born to fight, as its something that he has always done in order to get by. The short commercial, titled 'The Corner,' was made with the help of advertising agency 'Wieden + Kennedy' and headed by creative directors Max Stinson, Erik Fahrenkopf and Scott Kaplan.

Shakur Stevenson responded to questions surrounding his portrayal in the ad by saying "I hope this commercial inspires others to believe that with hard work, where you're from and the difficulties you faced will never be a barrier to where you can go and what you can accomplish."
