Tactile Object Awareness Systems

The 'Sensus' System Provides Spatial Awareness for the Blind

The 'Sensus' system is a revolutionary set of equipment for those with visual impairments to help them navigate their city or community with better agility. Consisting of a cane sensor and a wrist band, the system will work to detect objects or obstacles that are in your path and relaying the information to the writs band that will vibrate to let you know ahead of time. This enables users to feel more independent and react to obstacles sooner rather than once they are directly in front of them for a safer, more intuitive everyday experience.

The 'Sensus' system is the design work of Gražina Bočkutė and identifies the need for simple, intuitive technology for those who are blind or visually impaired to keep them independent in their everyday life.
