The Self-Sufficient Streetlight Concept Could Save Cities Millions

— March 17, 2010 — Eco
There have been similar concepts like this before, but none so aesthetically pleasing. The Self-Sufficient Streelight gathers solar energy during the day to power the bulb during the night without any supplementary electricity being used. What this does essentially is greatly reduce a city's energy use and put a ton of cash back into the infrastructure budget.

Now though I am pretty surprised that many cities haven't begun implementing something like the Self-Sufficient Streetlight on their roads, I can also understand why. For that project to happen, every existing streetlight would have to be ripped up and a new model put in its place.

Though the Self-Sufficient Streetlight is a very benefitial project, startup costs would be quite high.
