After an American dentist illegally killed a well-known lion named Cecil in Zimbabwe, there has been an increase in discussion on the importance of saving the lions and putting a stop to trophy hunting.
One of the initiatives that is making this issue known was a light show called Projecting Change: The Empire State Building, hosted by the directors and producers of The Cove—the documentary that exposed the slaughter of dolphins in Taiji, Japan. The pair is now preparing for the release of a new film later this year, Racing Extinction that ties in with the message of this light show.
During the light show set up on this iconic building, the faces of endangered animals were projected, turning the NYC landmark into a beacon for change. To get this message out to the rest of the world, the Oceanic Preservation Society also hosted a livestream.
