Sabine Finkenauer Joins Merimekko on a New Capsule

Finnish design imprint Marimekko originally launched the Marimekko Artist Series to work with celebrated and upcoming artists -- the latest highlights Sabine Finkenauer. She is a German artist based in Barcelona and is known for her textural abstract artwork that is made up of landscapes formed by geometric lines and rhythmic colors.

The capsule launched in time for Milan Design Week and it features 16 pieces in total, which can be described as a celebration of the “pursuit for timelessness and the expression of art in the everyday objects." The artist contributes seven pieces that are exclusive in the form of home textile and ceramic products. She speaks about the project, noting “My artistic method can be defined as a game whose rules I establish by playing. And, above all, an aspiration for simplicity in which I believe the greatest beauty resides.”
