Loop Energy announced that its latest 'S1200' hydrogen fuel cell system delivers fuel economy and cost-efficiency that rivals diesel power, when used in large trucks. As for more specific numbers, Loop Energy noted that a truck can travel 111 miles on $100 of hydrogen fuel, whereas the same truck could travel 109 miles on $100 of diesel fuel.
Loop Energy believes that hydrogen is a viable alternative to electric vehicles as the automobile industry makes a much needed shift toward eco-friendliness and sustainability. The CEO of Loop Energy, Ben Nyland, stated in a comment to Reuters: "This brings the future forward. This product delivers the economics that are needed for adoption today," showing that the company believes there is a very real market interest in adopting hydrogen fuel cell technology, especially given that hydrogen engines only emit water.
