The 'Rope Chair' seat is a minimalist furniture design that changes perceptions of what seating can look and feel like in order to bring about a more relaxed yet discreet aesthetic to a space.
The chair was designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for the Finland-based furniture company Artek and was unveiled in an installation at the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2020 by Shideh Shaygan. The chair consists of a steel tubing frame that is accented by a seat crafted with a form-pressed beech plywood and ash veneer; a pliable rope is threaded through the tubing to allow for a customized level of posture support.
The 'Rope Chair' seat is designed in both black and light gray color options.
