Hotel Cala Pairs Tao Group's LAVO and BarOnda in Tampa

Hotel Cala is bringing a new stay-and-dine option to Tampa's Riverwalk, pairing a 281-room urban resort with two food-and-drink venues and space for meetings and gatherings. The property, being shaped by Newbond Holdings with Rockwell Group, is set to open in January 2027.

Tao Group Hospitality is behind the culinary side, with 'LAVO' making its Tampa debut and 'BarOnda' adding a more casual waterfront vibe. LAVO centers on coastal Italian fare, while BarOnda gives guests and locals a place for cocktails and bites by the water.

Inside, the hotel blends public spaces, poolside lounging, and fitness into one walkable downtown base. It also includes 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space across seven rooms, plus direct access to The Riverwalk. The property is part of the Curio Collection by Hilton.
