Rick Owens, who is known for his glamorous, grungy style and a penchant for black, created a modular sofa design for Carpenters Workshop Gallery. The American fashion designer created a monolithic unit inspired by Brutalist architecture that features large plywood pieces upholstered in French wool army blankets—a material that's previously been used in other' fashion and furniture collections by Owens.
Overall, the Glade sofa system boasts a C-shaped design and can be configured as needed to fill up a certain amount of space. To create pockets for privacy, corner units can even be added, and although the sofa system has a dark design, it can be accented with built-in lighting. The design also includes an Internet conduit and charging point for mobile devices.
The entire form of the sofa system was inspired by a bed.
