Sci-Fi-Inspired Face Shields

Plastique Fantastique Creates an Open-Source Retro Face Shield

A new retro face shield is made available to consumers and it boasts a helmet-like design. Dubbed 'iSphere,' the concept is developed by Berlin-based art collective Plastique Fantastique. The silhouette draws inspiration from "science fiction comics of the 1950s, as well as visuals from "utopian movements" of the 1960s."

The retro face shield is made available as an open-source design, recognizing the right for everyone to be protected against the spread of COVID-19. As a result, anyone can "download, produce, develop, and improve" the piece of equipment. Plastique Fantastique launched the amusing project as Berlin officials made it mandatory for people to keep their mouth and nose covered on public transit. This rule was implemented on April 27th.
