This renovated Victorian cottage is located in a quiet neighborhood in Melbourne, Australia. While preserving the original exterior of the building, SWG Studio completely updated the "non-original" interior that included an exceptionally narrow kitchen and no indoor-outdoor spaces.
The authentic white and detailed Victorian facade was restored with no stylistic changes or modern add-ons. Based on the customer's desires, the SWG Studio created a floor-to-ceiling wardrobe in the bedroom, a contemporary shelf unit, as well as installed additional timber floor boards to communicate warmth with natural materials.
The lack of connection between indoor and outdoor spaces was addressed in the newly renovated Victorian cottage through the introduction of a timber deck that is meant to be utilized for entertainment, holistic activities or enjoyment of good weather.
