The Renault Twin'Z Gives a Glimpse into the Future of the Twingo
Michael Hines — April 10, 2013 — Autos
Those who can't wait to see the next-generation version of the Renault Twingo are going to want to check out the Renault Twin'Z. This electric concept car was designed by Ross Lovegrove and is a design study meant to give a glimpse at the company's forthcoming iteration of its ultra-popular hot hatch. The Twin'Z has an electric engine good for 67 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque. Its top speed is rated at 50 mph and it weighs in at under 2,200 pounds.
The Renault Twin'Z has four suicide doors and no B-pillars, a feature which allows for more interior space. The tires are Michelin and are made from a special rubber. There's a solid chance that the new Twingo will look nothing like the Renault Twin'Z, but the futuristic look and lack of B-pillars may be features which carry over into the new incarnation of the now-iconic hot hatch.
