Security-Enhancing Robot Vacuums

Roomba's Remote Check-In Feature Adds a Security Feature

As part of a new beta feature for iOS devices in the United States, iRobot is introducing the Remote Check-In feature for the Roomba j7/j7+ and Roomba combo. Signing up for this feature helps robot vacuum owners get more value by being able to check in on their home when they are away, and get extra peace of mind.

Since Roomba is first and foremost a robot vacuum cleaner, vacuuming takes priority over streaming but once it has finished its regularly scheduled cleaning missions, the device will commence livestreaming like a security camera. With the robot vacuum cleaner stationed in the right spot in the home, it has the potential to remove the need for an indoor security camera. And in addition to offering check-ins from its dock, the device can be programmed to travel to different viewpoints in the home.
